Privacy Policy

Soloist is built so that the most sensitive thing about you — the sound of you practising — never leaves your device.
Audio
All listening, tuning, transcription, and grading run entirely on your iPhone or iPad. No audio recording, microphone data, or transcription is ever uploaded to our servers. Our backend has no audio endpoints at all.
What does reach our servers
- Coach messages — if you use Soloist Coach, the messages you type and a short numeric summary of your latest graded take (e.g. timing and pitch percentages) are sent to our service and its AI-processing provider to generate a reply. Do not include names, contact details, or anything else you consider sensitive. We do not store a conversation transcript after the request completes.
- Service identity and limits — the service issues a random installation token so it can enforce monthly and short-window usage limits. The token is not an advertising identifier and is not derived from your device.
- Short-lived abuse signal — when a new installation token is requested, or an older app version uses Coach, the service briefly counts a one-way keyed representation of the network source. It is not linked to the installation identity, cannot reveal the source address, and expires automatically within 48 hours. The deliberately high limits exist only to stop automated token-minting or request-rotation attacks, not to pool ordinary usage or subscription allowances between people on a shared network.
- Purchase verification — if you subscribe to Soloist Pro, Apple's signed purchase receipt is verified by our server to activate your subscription. It contains transaction details, not your name or payment information.
What we don't do
- No account or email is required to use Soloist.
- No advertising, no trackers, no third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell personal data or use Coach text for advertising. Coach text is disclosed only to infrastructure and AI-processing providers needed to answer the request.
Practice data
Your imported songs, lesson progress, takes, and stats are stored locally on your device. Soloist does not enable iCloud or CloudKit sync for this data, and we cannot read it.
Data retention & deletion
Server-side data is limited to a random installation identity, short-lived usage counters, and purchase entitlement records. You can delete server-side and on-device Soloist data inside Toolkit → Settings → Delete Soloist Data. After deletion, we retain only a minimal tombstone for the random installation identity so an old, validly signed install credential can never recreate deleted data. It contains no practice content, messages, recordings, purchase transaction identifier, or contact details. The unlinked network abuse signal described above expires independently within 48 hours. You can also email nora@playsoloist.com for help.
Children
Soloist is not directed at children under 13. Coach messages are free text and could contain personal information if you choose to type it, so please do not include sensitive details.
